Blade gets a stake in the heart by Spike

The vampire action series, which was the first attempt at a one-hour drama for network Spike TV, will not be renewed for a second season. The show had fallen off drastically from its premiere ratings.
Blade arose from the grave over the summer with a strong 2.5 million cable viewers. Ratings died off over the show’s 12-episode run up to the September 13 finale, which drew only 896,000 viewers.
It was crafted for TV after the successful motion picture trilogy starring Wesley Snipes.
